Prekindergarten Application Process for School Year 2021-2022
The Anne Arundel County Public Schools Prekindergarten Application process will be online beginning February 9th at 10:00am EST. At present, schools are not accepting in-person or walk-up applications for prekindergarten. Families have two options to complete the prekindergarten application process:
- Complete the application using the online portal and upload documentation with their home computer, laptop, or smartphone, or consider utilizing community resources with computer/internet access.
- Contact the school to have a staff member complete the online application over the phone on their behalf.
Families that have trouble uploading the required documentation can submit a photo of the documents to the Enrollment Secretary via email or text using Google Voice.
If a family is truly having issues with uploading the documents, they can call the school and make an appointment for a “document delivery” after the online application has been completed.
At this time, AACPS cannot offer in-person appointments due to the COVID-19 metrics.
Applications for AACPS prekindergarten will be considered complete and families placed on the enrollment category list when all documentation has been submitted (only exception of the physical). As a reminder, families that choose not to submit income verification, and that do not have an IEP/IFSP, or are not an English Language Learner are placed on the Category 3 enrollment list. If the family submits qualifying income at a later date, the application is then placed on the Category 1 enrollment list at the time and date the income documentation is submitted.
Parents should be certain to have their documents ready to upload prior to entering the online portal by saving them in PDF, JPG, or PNG format. All the following documents are required for the online process to accept the submission:
- Complete the Prekindergarten Application and save it as a PDF. This is required for eligibility consideration; it can be found at https://www.aacps.org/earlychildhood and must accompany income verification documentation.
- Parent’s proof of identity
- Two proofs of residency
- Student’s birth certificate
- Student’s immunization (shot) record
- Custody order (if applicable)

LEARNING BACKPACK REPLACEMENT ITEMS PICK UP
UPDATE: Due to weather, distribution of supplies, Math materials, Chromebook covers, and Chromebooks will resume tomorrow, Wednesday, February 3rd from 8:30-6:00 and Thursday and Friday 8:30-4:00.
Learning Backpack replacement items, Math manipulatives necessary for upcoming units, and protective sleeves for Chromebooks are available for pick-up at Lake Shore Elementary School beginning tomorrow, Friday, January 29th and continuing through next week from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday. There will be extended office hours this Monday, February 1st only, until 6:00 PM to accommodate working parents. Please come to the front door of the school and ring the doorbell prepared to give the name(s) and grade(s) of your children attending Lake Shore and you will be granted entrance to the vestibule to pick-up materials. Please read signage carefully to ensure that you retrieve the grade appropriate materials.
