Strategic Plan Indicators
-
After each school leadership team reflected on its school culture, community, and the key contributing factors to student growth, they used this information to select the Strategic Plan Indicators that would have the greatest positive impact for their students. Each school was directed to select two to six indicators on which to focus during the 2018-19 school year. Certainly, we all know that if we focus narrowly and deeply, we are more likely to realize positive results. The indicators that this school’s leadership team selected are noted below.

Strategic Journey
-
Throughout the next 3 years, schools will focus on their chosen Strategic Plan Indicators as the drivers to increase student engagement and achievement within their schools. They will choose strategies to help them grow or increase within each indicator and will monitor and evaluate the student and school changes that take place along the journey. Below you will see what this school imagines their students and school to look like in 2021 after having focused and worked on their chosen indicators for three years.
Our Vision of Success: 2021
-
Creating a community of learners who are goal-oriented, future-driven, motivated scholars who contribute to the larger surrounding community beyond Pasadena is our overarching goal. Practices which cultivate a growth mindset in our students and teachers are important to developing a sense of pride in the work we do everyday in our classrooms.
Northeast will have implemented a progress monitoring practice embedded into Northeast Pride Period (Advisory) and paired with individual student goal-setting practices. By having students actualize their progress through review of grades, developing individual goals, and identifying resources to assist in their academic development, students will develop increased accountability and ownership of their academic success. The continual progress monitoring will help students understand their academic growth and encourage them to develop a life-long love of learning which will lead to an improvement in the percentage of students meeting or exceeding the expectations on standardized assessments in math and language arts.
(Indicator 6)Following consistent implementation, students will see an improvement in their academic achievement with more students making the honor roll and looking forward to celebrating this success. Students will be fully aware of their academic standing, and they will know what is needed to improve. Students will seek support from adults in the building to participate in opportunities to continue learning beyond the traditional classroom, such as extension projects, History Day and the Science Fair, and clubs. Students will pursue the opportunity to present and have their work showcased and reflect joy seeing their work and the work of their friends on display.

There will be an increase in students, families and staff that report feeling like valued members of the school community. Community circles, mentoring partnerships, and parent-teacher events will continuously build caring and supportive relationships among our NMS family. Students will say they are recognized for positive work and behavior. Students will also say there are events taking place in classrooms and for an entire grade level or even the entire school which enhance their school experience. Students will indicate there is at least one adult they have a positive relationship with, and that person makes them feel they truly belong as a member of the school. Adults will also see a difference in the school. They will see more events being held at the school for the community. Northeast will continue to host Family Nights as a venue to come together with all members of the Northeast Family community to share in fellowship, showcase school-based initiatives, and be an opportunity to celebrate student achievements. Adults in the building will notice there are fewer behavior issues and referrals. Adults will say the teachers and staff will go out of their way to make the middle school experience a fantastic one for the students.(Indicators 1 and 2)
