Strategic Plan Indicators

  • After each school leadership team reflected on its school culture, community, and the key contributing factors to student growth, they used this information to select the Strategic Plan Indicators that would have the greatest positive impact for their students.  Each school was directed to select two to six indicators on which to focus during the 2018-19 school year.  Certainly, we all know that if we focus narrowly and deeply, we are more likely to realize positive results.  The indicators that this school’s leadership team selected are noted below.

Strategic Journey

  • Throughout the next 3 years, schools will focus on their chosen Strategic Plan Indicators as the drivers to increase student engagement and achievement within their schools.  They will choose strategies to help them grow or increase within each indicator and will monitor and evaluate the student and school changes that take place along the journey.  Below you will see what this school imagines their students and school to look like in 2021 after having focused and worked on their chosen indicators for three years.

Our Vision of Success: 2021

  • Through the continued use of “Solley Circles”, all of our students’ voices will continue to be heard. Staff will continue to build relationships with students and other staff members by learning their stories. Students will say that they feel safe in sharing their stories and that the teachers and staff at Solley truly care about them and their well-being. Adults will continue to see the positive, safe and caring environment that Solley has become known for. Our family-like atmosphere will shine as everyone in our community will truly care about and invest in one another. Our students social emotional skills will grow as they will be explicitly instructed on active listening, being respectful, self talk and focused attention, along with empathy, emotional management and problem solving. (Indicators 2, 3 and 4)

Students will be provided explicit instruction on responding to questions in writing.  Students will also be provided explicit instruction on writing conventions. Students will use their authentic writing and apply the skills taught to revise and edit their own writing to include components of the writing rubrics. After successful implementation, students will be able to demonstrate their understanding of concepts and skills at the same level of understanding on a selected response on written responses.  Our students will begin to see themselves as effective writers, and that success will lead to increased scores on standardized district and state writing assessments. Our commitment to developing our teachers in writing instruction and developing our students as writers will become evident in the success of our students. (Indicator 6)
