Benfield Elementary School

Strategic Plan Indicators

  • After each school leadership team reflected on its school culture, community, and the key contributing factors to student growth, they used this information to select the Strategic Plan Indicators that would have the greatest positive impact for their students.  Each school was directed to select two to six indicators on which to focus during the 2018-19 school year.  Certainly, we all know that if we focus narrowly and deeply, we are more likely to realize positive results.  The indicators that this school’s leadership team selected are noted below.

  • 2019-2020 Strategic Plan Indicator(s) Chosen by the School - 1, 4, 6 (expand to view details)

Strategic Journey

  • Throughout the next 3 years, schools will focus on their chosen Strategic Plan Indicators as the drivers to increase student engagement and achievement within their schools.  They will choose strategies to help them grow or increase within each indicator and will monitor and evaluate the student and school changes that take place along the journey.  Below you will see what this school imagines their students and school to look like in 2021 after having focused and worked on their chosen indicators for three years.

Our Vision of Success: 2021

  • Benfield Elementary will be an exemplar of education that supports the whole child by providing a rigorous learning environment while continuing to foster a caring and safe place to learn. Our staff will be committed to listening to and supporting students in their learning.  Benfield will be a true community school where all stakeholders are welcomed and engaged.

Our students will continue to have success on standardized assessments, and their scores will continue to rise each year. Our teachers will engage in professional development that targets writing instruction, specifically writing to source across content areas. In mathematics, our teachers use number sense strategies to support fact fluency. Visitors to the building will see our students engaged in daily writes and mathematics, as they work to build and master important skills.

Our staff will use data to drive instruction so that instruction supports our students performing at all levels.  Whether for targeted interventions to support students needing additional strategies to perform on grade level material or for providing opportunities to engage students in advanced learning, careful consideration will be given to the selection of learning materials and programs so that all students are challenged in their learning.

Our students, staff and community members will grow as a family, sharing stories, and supporting one another each day. Everyone will feel like a welcome member of the Benfield family. Students will enjoy coming to school each day because they feel appreciated for the unique qualities they bring to our school. People will say that Benfield is a great place to be!
