Strategic Plan Indicators

  • After each school leadership team reflected on its school culture, community, and the key contributing factors to student growth, they used this information to select the Strategic Plan Indicators that would have the greatest positive impact for their students.  Each school was directed to select two to six indicators on which to focus during the 2018-19 school year.  Certainly, we all know that if we focus narrowly and deeply, we are more likely to realize positive results.  The indicators that this school’s leadership team selected are noted below.

  • 2018-2019 Strategic Plan Indicator(s) Chosen by the School - 1, 3, 5, 6 (expand to view details)

    View Full List/Descriptions of Indicators

Indicator 1. INCREASE THE PERCENTAGE OF STUDENTS, FAMILIES, STAFF, AND PARTNERS WHO REPORT FEELING LIKE A VALUABLE MEMBER OF THE SCHOOL OR SCHOOL SYSTEM COMMUNITY

Indicator 3. INCREASE THE USE OF RESTORATIVE PRACTICES IN SCHOOLS AND OFFICES

Indicator 5. INCREASE THE PERCENTAGE OF STUDENTS WHO READ ON OR ABOVE GRADE LEVEL BY THE END OF SECOND GRADE

Indicator 6. INCREASE THE PERCENTAGE OF STUDENTS IN GRADES 3-8 WHO MEET OR EXCEED EXPECTATIONS ON STANDARDIZED READING, LANGUAGE ARTS, AND MATHEMATICS ASSESSMENTS

Strategic Journey

  • Throughout the next 3 years, schools will focus on their chosen Strategic Plan Indicators as the drivers to increase student engagement and achievement within their schools.  They will choose strategies to help them grow or increase within each indicator and will monitor and evaluate the student and school changes that take place along the journey.  Below you will see what this school imagines their students and school to look like in 2021 after having focused and worked on their chosen indicators for three years.

Our Vision of Success: 2021

  •

Beginning in the 2019-20 school year and continuing into the 2020-2021 school year, students will demonstrate increased performance on district-wide reading and math assessments and Fountas and Pinnell (F & P) Reading Assessments. Moreover, a greater percentage of second grade students will be reading on or above grade level by the end of second grade. The instructional capacity of the Marley Elementary staff will be developed to specifically address the academic needs of students in a more individualized manner. (Indicators 5 and 6)

Also during the 2019-20 and 2020-21 school years, Marley Elementary will continue with the implementation of restorative practices to include the following: Community-Building Circles being conducted in each classroom on a daily basis (increased from 3 times per week); 90% of staff members being trained on the first phase of restorative practices; and designated staff members being trained on the second phase of restorative practices. This phase of restorative practices will address restoring harm and will become a critical component of our discipline and behavioral practices. (Indicator 3)

Students will say that they feel included in the school and classroom communities and that they enjoy the daily Community-Building Circles. The students will also express that they enjoy the chance to connect with their classmates and teachers. Students will be able to describe how restorative practices help them to see others' points of view, repair harm following a discipline concern, and provide concrete ways to move forward positively. All students will have strategies to make better choices. (Indicators 1 and 3)

Adults within our school community will see students solving problems and communicating with each other in a positive manner. The adults will also see a continued reduction in referrals and will see students following school expectations in all areas of the school and all parts of the day. (Indicator 3)
