Strategic Plan Indicators

  • After each school leadership team reflected on its school culture, community, and the key contributing factors to student growth, they used this information to select the Strategic Plan Indicators that would have the greatest positive impact for their students.  Each school was directed to select two to six indicators on which to focus during the 2018-19 school year.  Certainly, we all know that if we focus narrowly and deeply, we are more likely to realize positive results.  The indicators that this school’s leadership team selected are noted below.

  • 2019-2020 Strategic Plan Indicator(s) Chosen by the School - 1, 6, 10 (expand to view details)

Strategic Journey

  • Throughout the next 3 years, schools will focus on their chosen Strategic Plan Indicators as the drivers to increase student engagement and achievement within their schools.  They will choose strategies to help them grow or increase within each indicator and will monitor and evaluate the student and school changes that take place along the journey.  Below you will see what this school imagines their students and school to look like in 2021 after having focused and worked on their chosen indicators for three years.

Our Vision of Success: 2021

  • Oakwood Elementary is a warm, welcoming, and inviting school, and we strive to make each interaction one that is positive.  We continue to teach and support students with varying learning profiles in our Early Childhood Intervention and Alternative Curriculum Classrooms with a goal similar to the founding principle of 60 years ago --- integrating students with diverse physical and educational needs into classrooms with same-aged peers to learn together and from one another.

Our structures, programs, and daily habits will continue to support our pursuits of building a school community where students feel they belong and are a part of our learning community.  By utilizing our Morning Meeting, Second Step, and Character Education programs, our students will see their teachers as caring and supportive individuals who genuinely have an interest in them as a learner and a person.  Because of our intentional focus on the learning community, the adults will see we are inclusive of all students and that we are educating in a manner that inspires children's creativity, imagination, compassion, self-knowledge, socialization, and their emotional well-being. (Indicator 1 and 3)

Oakwood Elementary will continue implementing structures and opportunities for students to strengthen their academic abilities, further develop their talents, and explore new endeavors. Students will see they have a variety of choices when it comes to participation in school clubs, student groups, and after-school enrichment experiences; all which will afford them with new experiences, opportunities to pursue current interests, or further develop their own character and leadership abilities.  Families will see more events to promote the involvement of families in the educational and school experience of their children.  When students feel that their social and emotional needs are being met, they will then be more ready and receptive to attending school regularly and meet the academic challenges of the day.
