THE WORK OF OUR STRATEGIC PLAN 2018-2023
Cape St. Claire Elementary School
-
When each school began to plan their important work based on AACPS’s 2018-2023 Strategic Plan during the spring of 2018, school teams reflected on their school culture, their community, and the key factors contributing to student achievement. Each school was then asked to consider which Strategic Plan Indicators would have the greatest positive impact for their students. School leadership teams selected indicators and developed plans to focus and guide their efforts. Please come with us on our journey as we describe why, what, and how we do our work to serve our students and families of our school.
Cape St. Claire Elementary's School Story
-
Cape St. Claire Elementary (CSCE) is a close- knit community school situated on 29 acres, adjacent to a historic farm and the Chesapeake Bay. Serving the community since 1968, Cape St.Claire Elementary is home to over 600 students. Members of our school community value our community history, tradition, and environmental stewardship. In 2012, CSCE was recognized as a Green School and earned recertification as a Green School in 2016. With a high level of parent involvement and an active PTO, Cape St. Claire Elementary is bustling with volunteers and visitors who bring their expertise and stories to benefit our students.
Our diverse student body represents the many cultures and nationalities which enrich our school community. Children spend a good portion of their young lives attending school, and we at Cape St. Claire are responsible for ensuring that they are educated and that they develop social-emotional wellness. At Cape St. Claire, we value learning and wellness at the highest standard. We create schedules that incorporate time for movement, brain breaks, nutritional meals, snacks, and structured play. Our teachers establish a positive rapport with their students by being approachable and respectful, while also engaging them in rigorous learning. Students participate in daily Morning Meetings to build positive peer relationships and apply social skills throughout the day. Our teachers value strong home-school relationships and believe they are essential for student success. Through the support of our PTO and community, we are able to provide opportunities for all members of the school community to take an active role in supporting and enhancing the lives of our students.
The faculty and staff are highly qualified professionals who collaborate to design, plan and implement instruction to meet the varied needs of our students. Through a culture of equity and inclusion, we elevate all students and work to eliminate all gaps!
