Strategic Plan Indicators

  • After each school leadership team reflected on its school culture, community, and the key contributing factors to student growth, they used this information to select the Strategic Plan Indicators that would have the greatest positive impact for their students.  Each school was directed to select two to six indicators on which to focus during the 2018-19 school year.  Certainly, we all know that if we focus narrowly and deeply, we are more likely to realize positive results.  The indicators that this school’s leadership team selected are noted below.

  • Strategic Plan Indicator(s) Chosen by the School - 3, 6 (expand to view details)

Indicator 3.  INCREASE THE USE OF RESTORATIVE PRACTICES IN SCHOOLS AND OFFICES

Indicator 6. INCREASE THE PERCENTAGE OF STUDENTS IN GRADES 3-8 WHO MEET OR EXCEED EXPECTATIONS ON STANDARDIZED READING, LANGUAGE ARTS, AND MATHEMATICS ASSESSMENTS

Strategic Journey

  • Throughout the next 3 years, schools will focus on their chosen Strategic Plan Indicators as the drivers to increase student engagement and achievement within their schools. They will choose strategies to help them grow or increase within each indicator and will monitor and evaluate the student and school changes that take place along the journey.  Below you will see what this school imagines their students and school to look like in 2021 after having focused and worked on their chosen indicators for three years.

Our Vision of Success: 2021

  • Students and staff will find the use of community-building circles to be valuable as it leads to increased empathy toward others and increased mindfulness to participate in teaching and learning.

    ------------------------------------

Student-to-student interactions would improve as indicated by the decrease in physical and verbal altercations reported through minor and major office referrals. Increase of morale would increase as determined by surveys and anecdotal data from students, staff, community partners, and parents.

    -------------------------------------

Students are respectful to each other and adults. They use language and display actions that demonstrate respect for self and empathy for others.

    --------------------------------------

There will be an increase of walk-throughs that will examine student work and instructional practices implemented for ESOL students. The walk-throughs will be used to build on teacher capacity with professional development. Results of the walk-throughs will also demonstrate growth in identified areas of instructional practices.

    --------------------------------------

Students will see how their needs are being met for ELA instruction. An increase of rubrics will be used for peer-to-peer feedback and to guide individual drafting of written work. Students will say that feedback provided by peers and the teacher will help them improve their writing skills.

    ---------------------------------------

Staff will value the feedback process for ESOL walk-throughs. They will look forward to collaborative planning with a focus on reviewing student work. They will actively seek and participate in professional development designed to increase their capacity for ESOL students. Parents will feel valued as they receive instructional feedback and school information that will meet their needs to be apprised of their children's progress and school events.
