• AVID Proven Achievement. Lifelong Advantage. Figure of a person throwing a graduation cap in the air. Program Overview

AVID at North County High School is an academic elective course comprised of over 280 students. Interested students apply and are interviewed and then selected based on the AVID criteria and available spots. AVID is designed as a 9th-12th grade program that builds each year and space is extremely limited in 11th and 12th grade. If you and your student are interested, you can find our application here: NCHS AVID Application

AVID is designed to provide academic support to students "in the middle" in order to prepare them for eligibility to four-year colleges and universities. During the AVID elective, students focus on writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading while engaging in higher level thinking, teambuilding, and college exploration. AVID students are mentored on their academic strengths and weaknesses throughout the course and facilitate small group tutorials with their peers.

The AVID Class of 2021 was accepted to over 200 colleges and awarded over $2.1 Million in scholarships!
