STEM 8 students participate in STEM Saturdays to work in groups on their Changemaker Projects. STEM 8 student Changemakers are guided by mentors and teachers to help students achieve their action step or goal. Emphasis is placed on the learning behind making a positive impact either locally or globally. Effort is made for students to work in close connection with business and community partners as mentors, allowing them to gain real world experiences and make connections between the classroom and the world. Each STEM Saturday provides students time to become project managers and to reflect on the learning process along the way, culminating in their middle school STEM experience and preparing them for success in high school STEM programs.
