My name is Arusa Malik (she/her/hers) and I am a senior in the STEM program at South River High School. I am beyond grateful to serve as your CRASC President for the 2021-2022 school year. I became involved with student government my freshman year of high school, and since then I've fallen in love with it! When I first joined CRASC, I was welcomed with open arms and so many opportunities; I want to make sure I can put just as much into this amazing organization as I got out of it. For young people, it can be difficult to have our voices heard and recognized. Working towards fair and equal representation will be the key for a productive year.
Moreover, I am a firm believer in leadership with passion. Change and success can only happen when you put your entire heart into the task at hand. I am so excited to work with the CRASC executive board and student leaders from around the county to make some long lasting impact. Outside of CRASC you can find me outside on a long bike ride, reading narrative nonfiction (I always recommend "In Cold Blood" by Truman Capote...one of my favorites!), playing tennis with friends, or working on projects with Let's Talk Justice, the County Executive's Youth Advisory Council, the AACPS Service Learning Leadership Team and more!
