Dear Belvedere Families,
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! I hope that you all enjoyed a fun and relaxing summer with friends and family. We are eager to have our students return and begin a wonderful new school year! We were quite busy this summer preparing for the coming school year. Here’s a sampling of what’s new at Belvedere this year:
We’ve hired incredibly talented new team members to join our amazing faculty. Come meet them at Back to School Night!
Our portable classrooms are now a true extension of the school. This year they will be the learning cottages for our fourth graders.
Our amazing custodial team scrubbed every square inch of the building and has it shining floor to ceiling.
We’ve enrolled many new students to Belvedere and warmly welcome all of our new families to our community!
Please mark your calendars for Back to School Night on Thursday, September 20th at 6:30. At this event you will meet your child’s teacher(s), visit the classroom(s) and learn about the curriculum for your child’s respective grade level. During Back to School Night parents will be invited to their child’s classroom first. Prior to the beginning of the first session, an announcement from the administrative team and the PTA will be made via the broadcast system and projected in each classroom. Teachers will then present their content to parents as part of the first session. As always, a second session will be offered for families with more than one student at Belvedere. We are looking forward to seeing you!
We will continue with our #FindYourAwesome student incentive program. Belvedere is lucky to have a school full of special students; each of whom bring unique skills and talents to our school. Our focus is to help all students find what makes them awesome. When a student shines in a particular area, a teacher/staff member will fill out a #FindYourAwesome slip and place it in the class envelope. Each week, one name from each grade level will be pulled and read on the morning announcements along with the reason each student was nominated. Those students will receive a certificate and pencil. Additionally, with your permission as indicated on the Emergency Card (“consent for images, artwork, etc. to be used in AACPS and media“), we will Tweet out a picture of your child with his/her certificate onto the Belvedere and/or AACPS website.
Our newsletter is published monthly and provides important information about school events and policies. As a Green School, we strive to reduce, reuse and recycle. To that end, we will post our newsletter on our website at http://www.aacps.org/aacps/belvedes. Paper copies will be provided upon request.
Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or me if you have any questions or concerns. It is our goal to work with you to ensure a positive, successful school year for all of your students. I’m looking forward to an AWESOME school year working closely with students, parents and teachers to provide an exceptional educational experience for all of our students.
