    November 2019

    Dear Parents and Guardians,

I am excited to announce that Arnold Elementary won the Crayola “Champion Creatively Alive Children” school grant! We are one of 20 schools nationwide who have been selected by Crayola and the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) to receive this award. We will share more specific information as we implement the grant and encourage students to think strategically and creatively!

In honor of American Education Week, we invite you to join us the week of November 11th -15th.  Homeroom classes and our EEE/Arts Integration classes will host open houses for the opportunity to see instruction in action. Teachers will notify you of the day and time of their open house. Please remember to check in at the main office when you arrive.  We kindly ask that younger siblings do not attend, as this is a regular school day for students. Our school improvement plan for the 2018 school year is aligned with the AACPS Strategic Plan. While you are visiting classrooms, keep an eye out for our school improvement focus this year. We are focusing specifically on knowing how students are performing on standards and skills and challenging them to grow in a positive environment.

Our school wide character trait for this month is Honor: Letting someone know that you see how valuable they are. Consider taking a moment this month to ask your child how they can show others that they are valued.

We are looking forward to you visiting our school and learning more about how your child is growing and learning.  I am truly thankful for all of the Arnold Elementary staff and families. May you and your family have a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving!

    Sincerely,

    Shauna Kauffman
