Greetings and welcome to Annapolis Elementary School, the home of the Gators! I am thrilled that you have decided to view our school’s website to learn more about the wonderful students, staff, and programs we have to offer. Annapolis Elementary School is the oldest structure in continuous service as a school in the state of Maryland. Originating as Annapolis Public School, becoming Annapolis Grammar School and often referred to as the Green Street School, the history of the land and structure dates by to the 1700’s. Annapolis Elementary celebrates over 100 years of dedication and service to the children of Annapolis.
Annapolis Elementary serves a diverse population of students, drawing students from downtown Annapolis to include the Naval Academy, Murray Hill, and Clay street communities. As a Title 1 school, our total enrollment for the 2019-2020 school year is approximately 240 students.
Annapolis Elementary is a PBIS and Kids at Hope school. We believe that all children are capable of success, no exceptions. We have become a Restorative Practices school with the implementation of community circles and restorative conversations. Annapolis Elementary continues to strive to become the best. As the school continues to grow and change, we will remember to learn from the past as we prepare our students for the future.
Our school community is dedicated to providing our students with a well-rounded educational experience, that not only involves a students’ academic success but also his/her socialemotional success. While the core curriculum is provided for all students, we believe that it is critical that we also provide extra-curricular opportunities to develop a well-rounded child. Our PTA supports these opportunities by sponsoring various before and after-school clubs including dance, basketball, and robotics, for example.
We encourage you to visit our beautiful school and see that we are a school committed to the success of all children. You will find that this is a vibrant and engaging community of teachers and learners. To our parents, we believe that your involvement is an essential component to the academic success of your child. I encourage you to visit often, meet your child’s teacher and to get engaged in all that Annapolis has to offer. Your participation in our school is needed and greatly appreciated! I look forward to partnering with you on behalf of our future leaders.
