Our School’s Story 

Old Mill Middle School South (OMMS) is a STEM magnet school set in the heart of Anne Arundel County since 1975. Located in Millersville, we pull a diverse population from Glen Burnie Park, Millersville, Ridgeway, and South Shore elementary schools, in addition to our STEM-magnet students coming from other county schools. OMMS staff are proud to serve a culturally rich school community with approximately 1000 students (approximately 300 STEM students and 120 AVID students). 

Our students are regularly engaged in a culturally relevant, STEM-rich curriculum which prepares them for the 21st century workplace. These learning experiences inspire curiosity and encourage students to become innovative Changemakers. OMMS  has created a partnership with our parents, community members and business partners and they are invited to events throughout the year to celebrate our students. In addition, Old Mill Middle School South’s faculty and staff are caring and dedicated to engaging our school community in the educational process and this year we will be implementing schoolwide AVID strategies. 

At OMMS, we have consistently been among the top performing middle schools in Anne Arundel County. But now it is time for OMMS to accelerate and focus on closing the achievement gap even more! OMMS is committed to reflecting and implementing schoolwide writing strategies in every classroom and using data to drive instruction.
