About Our School

  • Located in Edgewater, Maryland, CMS is one of two middle schools in the South River High School feeder system. Opened in 1977, the two-story building houses a population of approximately 1,200 students in grades 6 through 8, and serves the communities of Davidsonville, Edgewater, Mayo, Riva and Woodland Beach, as well as parts of Annapolis and Harwood, in southern Anne Arundel County.

Central Middle School is proud of its academic program. They consistently have achieved adequate yearly progress on the Maryland State Assessments. The number of students achieving at advanced levels increases yearly.

In addition to being academically successful, Central Middle School is also a very safe and orderly environment. Central Middle School's students are: Committed, Motivated, and Successful-Golden Cobras Strike Success by Doing their Best.

Please find attached my letter regarding my up-coming retirement. I have enjoyed tremendous support from this community, and it is not easy to leave. Central Middle is a great middle school because of the community it serves. It is also the result of having a tremendous team supporting the teaching and learning of our students. As I retire, I am confident that Central Middle will continue to Strike Success because it is the BEST!

    Farewell Letter

Thank you, and Happy New Year!
