Congratulations to Maryland Teacher of the Year Mr. Carroll!

  • Josh Carroll Announced 2017 Teacher of the Year South River High School teacher Josh Carroll was named the 2017-2018 Maryland Teacher of the Year by the Maryland State Department of Education at the State Teacher of the Year luncheon. The announcement by State Superintendent of Schools Dr. Karen Salmon culminated a brilliant six-month run for Mr. Carroll, who was named Anne Arundel County Public Schools Teacher of the Year in April and a finalist for the state award in September. Just two other AACPS teachers – Linda Adamson of Mayo and Jessup elementary schools in 1993-94 and Patricia Neidhart of Broadneck High School in 1988-89 – had previously earned state Teacher of the Year honors. 2017-2018 Maryland State Teacher of the Year

STEM Teacher, South River High School

“The most important thing I can do to help a student achieve is to help that student understand that they have somebody caring about them, somebody wanting them to be successful. That starts with relationships. I am truly blessed to work at South River High School where we have a principal and administrative staff who believe in and value the power of relationships.” Learn more about Josh Carroll.
