  • We are excited to launch a new, online application system for the 2018 Teacher of the Year. Applications will be accepted in Fall 2017.

Principals wishing to nominate a teacher at their school should:

    Notify the Nominee

Reach out to the teacher to congratulate him/her on being nominated and share information about the application process.

    Complete the Principal's Recommendation

Principal's must complete the online Principal's Recommendation form by November 2, 2017 (extended deadline).

Ask Teacher to Complete the Teacher of the Year Application

Nominees must complete the online Teacher of the Year Application form by November 6, 2017 (extended deadline).

(This application can be submitted at any time after the teacher is notified of his/her nomination).

Colleagues, parents, or other community members who would like to nominate an educator from their school should speak with the school's principal.

Application Process

  • The Teacher of the Year Award is selected through a three round application process:

    Round One

A judging committee of educators and community leaders reads and evaluates each nomination packet to select ten semi-finalists.

    Round Two

Semi-finalists receive and complete a more detailed nomination packet. Judges visit each semi-finalist's classroom. The judging committee reads and evaluates each nomination packet to select the Teacher of the Year finalists.

    Round Three

A panel of educators and community leaders interviews each finalist. The Teacher of the Year is announced at the Excellence In Education Awards Ceremony in the Spring.
