2018-2019 Teacher of the Year
We are continuing with our online application system for the 2018-2019 Teacher of the Year. Applications will be accepted beginning September 24, 2018.
Principals wishing to nominate a teacher at their school should:
Notify the Nominee
Reach out to the teacher to congratulate him/her on being nominated and share information about the application process.
Complete the Principal's Recommendation
Principal's must complete the online Principal's Recommendation form by November 1, 2018.
Ask Teacher to Complete the Teacher of the Year Application
Nominees must complete the online Teacher of the Year Application form by November 5, 2018.
(This application can be submitted at any time after the teacher is notified of his/her nomination).
Colleagues, parents, or other community members who would like to nominate an educator from their school should speak with the school's principal.
The Teacher of the Year Award is selected through a three round application process:
A selection committee of educators and community leaders reads and evaluates each nomination packet to select approximately ten semi-finalists.
Semi-finalists receive and complete a more detailed nomination packet. Judges visit each semi-finalist's classroom. The judging committee reads and evaluates each nomination packet to select the Teacher of the Year finalists.
A panel of educators and community leaders interviews each finalist. The Teacher of the Year is announced at the Excellence In Education Awards Ceremony on April 25, 2019.
