    COVID-19 Update for the 2020 - 2021 school-year

Service Learning hours are waived for seniors who are graduating for the 2020 - 2021 school year. Hours have not been waived for students in grades 5 - 11.  It is expected that all students, grades 5 - 11 complete their required service learning hours. Teachers have been given permission to make modifications to the service learning lessons to ensure the action steps for all service are safe for the students. They will focus on advocacy and indirect service. Please direct any questions regarding these required hours to ldfowler@aacps.org.

The Maryland State Department of Education requires each student to complete 75 hours of student service learning which includes preparation, action, and reflection as a high school graduation requirement. Each county decides how to implement its service learning program. Currently in Anne Arundel County, all service learning hours are infused into classes from 5th through 11th grade.
