How to Become a Volunteer
-
Contact a school where you would like to volunteer and talk with the staff member who coordinates the volunteer program. Once you have identified a volunteer opportunity you are interested in, you will need to do the following.
- Attend a volunteer orientation at the school.
- Watch a sexual harassment and child abuse training module (espanol) and complete a verification form (espanol) which is kept on file at the school.
- You may also be asked to complete a background check, depending on the volunteer assignment. Background check requests must be completed online. There is no cost to the volunteer.
- Read instructions completing a background check request online (español).
Please note: If you will be volunteering only once or twice during the school year, such as being a guest reader or a field trip chaperone, you may be able to read and sign off on the sexual harassment and child abuse information.
