• AVID Proven Achievement. Lifelong Advantage. Figure of a person throwing a graduation cap in the air. OMMS Program Overview

The purpose of AVID is to move students from standard classes to more rigorous college-preparatory coursework while providing academic support in the AVID elective. During each AVID class, students receive instruction in reading/writing across the curriculum, note taking & test strategies, study skills, organization, and time management. Another aspect of the program focuses on career and college exploration through guest speakers, college tours, and research assignments. Additionally as part of the AVID class, students receive tutorial time with trained tutors who facilitate small groups in order to support academic growth within the core content to support student success.
