Explorations 1 Field Trips

  • Civil Engineering Expo: This annual event connects students to professionals from a variety of civil engineering firms from around Maryland. Organized in conjunction with the State Highway Administration.

    Oriole Park at Camden Yards: Students in the fall and spring semester sections of Explorations I toured the ballpark and heard about the economics of running a professional baseball team.

    Towson Economic Outlook Conference:  Conferences have focused on the concept of conscientious capitalism and the benefits for companies focusing on social responsibility.

    T. Rowe Price Finance Lab, Towson University : In concert with participation in the Stock Market Game, students traveled to Towson University to participate in investing lessons and utilized real-time data to analyze stocks and company outlooks.

    Severna Park High School Financial Literacy Forum: After hearing remarks from Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot, students heard from a panel of local business owners on the importance of personal and business financial literacy.

    Civil Engineering Fair : In concert with the State Highway Administration, students will hear from contractors, see heavy equipment, and explore careers in the field of civil engineering.

    Bowie Baysox College Fair/Game: Over 20 colleges and universities from around Maryland and neighboring states will be represented. The Baysox will play a game following the college fair event.

Other Field Trips

  • AP Environmental Summit, Broadneck High School: Annual event bringing all students from AACPS high schools to participate in hands-on environmental research and hear from relevant speakers in the field of environmental literacy. 

    Eco City Farms: Community-based urban sustainable farming.

    Six Flags America: Maryland Physics Day.

    District Court of Anne Arundel County (Civil Docket): Students enrolled in Personal and Business Law courses visited the courtroom of Judge Shaem Spencer and witnessed several civil cases. Judge Spencer spent time following his morning session answering questions and discussing his career in law.

    District Court of Anne Arundel County (Criminal Docket): Students enrolled in Criminal Justice visited the District Court in Glen Burnie to see the criminal court process.

    Coastal Sunbelt Produce: Culinary and Hospitality Arts students visited the regional produce distributor and toured the facility, which manages the acquisition and distribution of over 10,000 products. Topics presented included logistics, careers in food distribution, and a sampling of in-house made salsa.

    Baltimore Aquarium: The Early Childcare program took the pre-school classes to the Baltimore Aquarium.
