Chesapeake Explorations Courses

  • Information Management 1- (IMX1)  This course has been designed as introduction and overview for students who wish to participate in Chesapeake High School’s Information Management Signature Program.  In this course, students will explore the components of Information Management through an interdisciplinary approach.  Curriculum modules are designed to demonstrate how Information Management relates to the other 11 AACPS Signature Programs (see below). This approach allows students investigate Information Management from local, national, and global perspectives.  Connections will also be made to workforce relevance and career opportunities.  Strategies integral to this course include the effective and responsible use of the internet, the ability to discuss and debate mature topics and themes respectfully, a level of comfort with a variety of non-print mediums, working in cooperative learning groups, and participating in multi-disciplinary project based learning.  This course will include field trips and guest speakers as part of the curriculum

    Information Management 2- (IMX2) This course has been designed as an extension for students who wish to participate in Chesapeake High School’s Information Management Signature Program.  In this course, students will explore the components of Information Management through an interdisciplinary approach.  The curriculum is designed based on Project Based Learning.  PBL is a teaching method in which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to complex a question, problem, or challenge. This approach allows students to continue to investigate Information Management from local, national, and global perspectives.  Connections will continue to be made to workforce relevance and career opportunities.  Strategies integral to this course include the effective and responsible use of the internet, the ability to discuss and debate mature topics and themes respectfully, a level of comfort with a variety of non-print mediums, working in cooperative learning groups, and participating in multi-disciplinary project based learning.  Like IMX1, this course will include field trips and guest speakers as part of the curriculum.
