Middle School Assessments

  • In Middle School, students take one assessment, per quarter in the following courses.

    • English Language Arts
    • Mathematics
    • Science
    • Social Studies
    • World Languages (Level I and above)

Each quarterly assessment is worth 5% of 6th and 7th grade students' quarter grade and 10% of 8th grade students' quarter grade. In ELA, Science, For quarterly assessments in ELA, Science, Social Studies, and World Languages there are two collaboratively created district assessments and two individual teacher or school-based team assessments. In mathematics, there are four collaboratively created district assessments that are used as the quarterly assessments.

In addition to district assessments, students will also take the MCAP Assessment in literacy and mathematics, the Gates MacGinitie Test in Reading, and the MISA Assessment in science. The results of MCAP, Gates, and MISA do not affect a student's grade.

Students who are taking high school credit courses while in Middle School will be required to complete the corresponding high school assessments (see High School site for list of assessments for each course).
