How can you help?

  • Bates Middle Adopt-A-Dancer Program
Bates Middle School has an Adopt-A-Dancer program to help dancers with the cost of class clothing and costumes. For information and to help, please contact Rachel Morrissey (rleonard@AACPS.org) or Ariana Matthews (ammatthews@AACPS.org).

    Dancewear Donation Program
Costumes, dancewear (leotards, jazz pants, dance skirts), dance shoes (ballet shoes, jazz shoes, jazz sneakers, tap shoes) in good condition can be donated to the AACPS dance program to help outfit our students in need. For hygienic reasons, tights are not able to be accepted. Items can be dropped off in a bag with the name and address of the donor at the Board of Education, 2644 Riva Road, Annapolis, MD  21401. A letter will be sent acknowledging the donation. Please contact Nicole Deming, Dance Teacher Specialist, with questions (ndeming@aacps.org).

    Jean Boyd Memorial Fund
This fund sponsors assemblies, master classes, and choreographers for our schools. Jean Boyd was the Assistant Coordinator for Physical Education and Athletics and was also a trained dancer. She began the AACPS dance program 35 years ago. Jean passed away in 2010 and the Jean Boyd Memorial Fund was created in her honor.  Please contact Nicole Deming, Dance Teacher Specialist, to be a sponsor (ndeming@aacps.org).

    Volunteer
Volunteers are a big asset to the dance programs at all of our schools. They make costumes, help with dance events (tickets, concessions, flowers, and more), help with fundraisers, transport dancers, and a myriad of other "jobs" that make the program work. Contact the Dance Director at your students school for details.
