  • What is the difference between an extended suspension and expulsion?

    An extended suspension means “the removal of a student from a comprehensive school for a period of more than ten days for a specified violation of the Student Code of Conduct.”

    An expulsion means “the removal of a student from Anne Arundel County Public Schools for a minimum of 36 weeks, in compliance with federal and state laws and regulations, for a specified violation of the Student Code of Conduct.”

    For students placed on extended suspension or expulsion, there are several options; Anne Arundel Evening High School, Mary Moss @ J. Albert Adams Academy, Phoenix Academy, home teaching, and summer school.

  • How can I get my child back into school from an extended suspension or expulsion?

    There are two ways a student can return from extended suspension and/or expulsion to school. One is through the readmission process for student returning from an extended suspension, the other is through the readmission review board process for students returning from an expulsion.
