George Arlotto, Ed.D., Superintendent of Schools
Biography & Background
The 2021-2022 school year marks Dr. George Arlotto’s 35th year in education.
As a member of the superintendent’s senior and executive staffs from 2006 through June 2014, Dr. Arlotto served AACPS in a variety of capacities:
- Director of High Schools
- Chief School Performance Officer
- Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction & School Performance
- Associate Superintendent
- Chief of Staff
The Board of Education appointed Dr. Arlotto to a four-year term as Superintendent of Schools on July 1, 2014, and reappointed him to a second four-year term that began on July 1, 2018.
Dr. Arlotto previously taught and was a high school administrator in Virginia, the District of Columbia Public Schools, and Montgomery County (MD) Public Schools.
Dr. Arlotto holds a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Lynchburg College, a Master of Education degree in Administration & Supervision from the University of Virginia, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Administration and Policy Studies from The George Washington University.
