  • HR Benefits

Posted by Angela Barber on 11/20/2017

Look for a Human Resources Bulletin this month with important information.  Employees may still review their benefit elections or print their enrollment summary here.  All CareFirst medical participants will receive a new card dated January 1, 2018, before the end of December.  We recommend that, once the new cards are received, previous medical ID cards should be discarded.

Remember, that if you added a dependent to your healthcare benefits, documentation (e.g. copy of birth certificate) is required and must be sent to HR/Benefits.  A new dependent will not be added for January 1, 2018, unless documentation is received by HR/Benefits.

The County Executive has set aside a one-time Premium Assistance fund to ease the burden on eligible employees enrolled in the BlueChoice HMO or Triple Option medical plans.  Accordingly, the Board will use those funds to pay the employee premium share for all eligible employees participating in the BlueChoice HMO or the Triple Option medical plans beginning with the January 3, 2018, pay and lasting until the funds are exhausted.  Please note that the spousal surcharge will still apply.

Employees covering a spouse in the BlueChoice HMO or Triple Option medical plans will incur a surcharge beginning on the January 3, 2018, pay, unless you went online during Open Enrollment to indicate you are exempt from the surcharge.  If you cover your spouse under the BlueChoice HMO or Triple Option medical plans and did not go on-line during Open Enrollment to complete the spouse certification, you will default to the spousal surcharge.  If you believe you are exempt from the surcharge and did not go on-line to certifiy the exemption, you must submit a Lifestyle Change form to HR/Benefits as soon as possible, otherwise the surcharge will continue to be applied.

    1095-C Forms

AACPS will issue your 1095-C, if applicable, to your work location by January 31, 2018.  This form reflects your healthcare participation in 2017 and covered dependents.  You simply keep the form with your tax records.  Do not file it with your tax return. Any questions regarding the 1095-C should be addressed to HR/Benefits at 410-222-5221 or benefits@aacps.org.

  • HR Retirement

    Posted by Benefits on 1/1/2017

If you are planning to retire by July 1, 2018, you should attend an AACPS Retirement Information Program and a Retirement Forms Workshop. The schedule is available on MyAACPS-PD (formerly ERO). If you are within one year of retirement and are considering retiring, we recommend you attend both programs. Important: first obtain an estimate of your benefit by completing MSRA form 9 and submitting it to the State promptly. The estimate takes 8-10 weeks to process. The information is critical to help you make important decisions as you prepare your application for retirement.  Here are links to MSRA forms.
