Our professional development team offers over 2,600 PGD sessions throughout the year. Their mission is to provide continuous and focused learning for all employees, serve as a school system professional learning network, and to advance individual and organizational development in order to ensure achievement for every student. All permanent AACPS employees are eligible for a tuition reimbursement benefit for coursework taken while employed with AACPS. Eligibility for reimbursement is based on the assigned bargaining Unit of the employee and the negotiated agreements for those Units. Additional information on tuition reimbursement.

AACPS encourages employees to pursue leadership opportunities both in and out of the school building. At a school-based level, department chair and administrative roles are available. Outside of those roles, we hire for positions ranging from content coordinators to department managers. 

All permanent Employees of AACPS are eligible for and, upon hire, enroll into the appropriate pension plan of the Maryland State Retirement and Pension System as a condition of employment. Teachers, and employees in related jobs, are enrolled into the Teacher's pension system, all other employees are enrolled into the Employees’ pension system. Learn more about retirement.
