Welcome to the Anne Arundel County Public Schools
2008 Teacher Job Fair!

We hope that this will be the beginning of a long and fulfilling career for you in our school system.  Online registration is now closed .

Please be sure to read the Frequently Asked Questions section below to help you be more prepared for a successful day at the fair.  We are looking forward to seeing you on Saturday March 29th.

 Job Fair FAQs

  1. What time should I arrive at the fair?

The job fair begins at 8:00.  We will open the doors shortly before 8:00 for check in.  You will then be sent to the auditorium for orientation and to receive your materials for the day.

  1. What happens after the orientation?

You will be given time to sign up for interviews in 30 minute intervals between 8:30 and 12:00 noon.

  1. How will I know which schools to ask for interviews?

Prepare for the job fair by studying information about our schools on the aacps.org website and develop a preliminary list of schools you wish to see.  In addition, maps of the county will be posted with the schools noted.  You may want to interview with schools that have openings in your content area or schools in the geographic area in which you want to teach.  If you are interested in a school, and it does not currently have a vacancy, you are encouraged to interview anyway for future vacancies.

  1. What should I bring to the job fair?

You should bring at least 30 copies of your resume if you plan to interview with the principals.  In addition to your resumes, you should bring copies of any application materials that you have not already submitted to AACPS including transcripts, Praxis scores, teaching certificates.

There will be resume drop-off boxes outside all school interview sites for those who may not be able to get an interview that day but who have an interest in the school.  Please note, however, that after the job fair, principals may only interview those candidates who have been sent to the schools by the Division of Human Resources.

  1. What kind of information will be available at the job fair?

Representatives from various offices in the school system will be available to assist you and answer any questions you may have regarding, but not limited to:

  • Curriculum

  • Certification

  • New teacher support programs

  • Professional development opportunities

  • Employee benefits

  • National Board Certified Teachers

  • Substitute teaching

  1. Is the fair for current AACPS teachers?

No, current AACPS teachers wishing to change positions should use the Unit I voluntary transfer process.

  1. Is the fair for teachers only?

Interviews are available for teachers, guidance counselors and media specialists only.

Individuals interested in all other positions, including instructional assistants, should follow the information on our Human Resources website regarding application procedures.

  1. Should I apply to AACPS before attending the fair?

Yes, apply online at the aacps.org website.  We will have computers available at the fair for candidates to apply on site; however, this will take up some of your time that you might rather use for interviewing or getting questions answered.  Please note that registering for the job fair is a separate process from applying to work for the school system.
