School counselors provide a comprehensive, developmental school counseling program addressing the academic, career and personal/social development of all students.

In partnership and collaboration with other educators, parents or guardians, and the community, school counselors provide services that ensure all students in Anne Arundel County Public Schools have access to and are prepared with the knowledge and skills to contribute at the highest level as productive members in a global society.

The following links for students and families provide resources for high school students such as advanced academic programs, and career/college readiness.

“The mission of Anne Arundel County Public Schools’ School Counseling Program is to directly support the school system goals of accelerating achievement for all students, eliminating the achievement gap among all groups of students, and creating safe learning environments that promote rigorous academic achievement.”

The school counseling program is fully aligned with the ASCA national framework published by the American School Counselor Association. (read more)

AACPS School Counselors address prevention, intervention and student developmental needs, and believe that all students:

  • have dignity and worth.

  • have a right to participate in a comprehensive school counseling program.

  • have ethnic, cultural, racial, sexual differences and special needs which are considered in planning and implementing a school counseling program.
