Students may submit separate applications for a total of two (2) scholarships offered in Sections I and II of this packet, but will not be awarded more than one scholarship. The sample you provide is your opportunity to distinguish yourself from the other applicants. Applicants do not need to pursue a career in the discipline for which they are applying except as indicated in the criteria for scholarships in section II.

Art Scholarship

SAT composite score of at
least 1650 or an ACT composite score of at least 25.
·
Weighted GPA 3.5.
·
Students must have
demonstrated excellence in art.
·
Students must submit a portfolio of art work on a CD. The portfolio should include five (5) representative pieces of work. Please indicate the size and medium used for each work submitted and pertinent details for clarification. If submitting a photograph(s) as the art work sample, include actual photograph(s). The sample you provide is your opportunity to distinguish yourself from the other applicants.

Business Education/Family &
Consumer Science Scholarship
· SAT
composite score of at least 1650 or an ACT composite score of at least
25.
· Weighted
GPA 3.5.
· Students
must have demonstrated excellence in business education and/or family &
consumer science.
· Students must submit a sample of their work that demonstrates their knowledge and excellence in business and/or family & consumer science. The sample you provide is your opportunity to distinguish yourself from the other applicants.

winner will be awarded $5,000.00.
Career and Technology Education
Scholarship
·
Applicant must be attending
one of the Centers of Applied Technology.
·
GPA 3.0.
· Students
must have demonstrated excellence in a career and technology program at
the Center.
· Students must submit samples and/or photos of projects from their work portfolio that demonstrate skill levels achieved and trade expertise. The sample you provide is your opportunity to distinguish yourself from the other applicants.
· The
winner will be awarded $5,000.00.
Computer Science Scholarship
·
SAT composite score of at
least 1650 or an ACT composite score of at least 25.
·
Weighted GPA 3.5.
· Students must have
demonstrated excellence in Computer Science courses and exhibit
outstanding skills in more than one area or application, including but
not limited to programming, problem solving, web page design and
software use.
· Students must submit samples of their work by providing hard copies, DVD’s, or CD’s containing original work in currently available common languages on standard platforms (PC or MAC). The sample you provide is your opportunity to distinguish yourself from the other applicants.

English Scholarship
·
SAT composite score of at
least 1650 or an ACT composite score of at least 25.
·
Weighted GPA 3.5.
·
Students must have
demonstrated excellence in language arts, which includes composition,
creative writing, and literature.

Students must submit two (2) samples of their work that demonstrate their excellence in this category. (Include a bibliography where applicable.) The sample you provide is your opportunity to distinguish yourself from the other applicants.

Foreign Language Scholarship:

SAT composite score of at least 1650 or an ACT composite score of at least 25.
·
Weighted GPA 3.5.
·
Students must
have demonstrated excellence in a foreign language curriculum.

Students
must submit two (2) written samples of their work that demonstrate their
knowledge and excellence in a specific language. The sample you provide
is your opportunity to distinguish yourself from the other applicants.

Journalism Scholarship

SAT composite score of at
least 1650 or an ACT composite score of at least 25.

Weighted GPA 3.5.

Students must submit two (2) samples of their work that demonstrate excellence in journalistic writing, which includes school newspaper, literary magazine, yearbook, and/or community projects. The sample you provide is your opportunity to distinguish yourself from the other applicants.

Mathematics Scholarship
·
SAT composite score of at
least 1650 or an ACT composite score of at least 25.
·
Weighted GPA 3.5.
·
Students must have
demonstrated excellence in the mathematics curriculum.
·
Students must submit a sample of their work that demonstrates their knowledge and excellence in this category. The sample you provide is your opportunity to distinguish yourself from the other applicants.

$5,000.00.
Music Scholarship
·
SAT composite score of at
least 1650 or an ACT composite score of at least 25.
·
Weighted GPA 3.5.
·
Students must have
demonstrated excellence in musical performance by participation in
recognized ensembles, bands, choruses, or orchestras.
·
Application process may include a five-minute audition/presentation and a five-minute interview.
Auditions will be held on March 3, 2012. Students will be contact the beginning of March with the schedule of time and place. If you wish to use an accompanist, please schedule accordingly.

Physical Education Scholarship
·
SAT composite score of at
least 1650 or an ACT composite score of at least 25.
·
Weighted GPA 3.5.
·
Students must have
demonstrated excellence in physical education, which includes lifetime &
team sports, fitness, and/or sports medicine.
·
Students must submit a sample of their work that demonstrates their excellence in this category. The sample you provide is your opportunity to distinguish yourself from the other applicants.
·
The winner will be awarded
$5,000.00.
Science Scholarship
·
SAT composite score of at
least 1650 or an ACT composite score of at least 25.
·
Weighted GPA 3.5.
·
Students must have
demonstrated excellence in the science curriculum.
·
Students must submit a sample of their work that demonstrates their knowledge and excellence in this category. The sample you provide is your opportunity to distinguish yourself from the other applicants.

Social Studies Scholarship
·
SAT composite score of at
least 1650 or an ACT composite score of at least 25.
·
Weighted GPA 3.5.
·
Students must have
demonstrated excellence in social studies, which includes history,
geography, economics, criminal justice, psychology and/or sociology.
·
Students must submit two (2) samples of their work that demonstrate their excellence in this category. (Include a bibliography where applicable) The sample you provide is your opportunity to distinguish yourself from the other applicants

The winner will be awarded
$5,000.00.
Theater Arts/Musical Theater/Dance
Scholarship
·
SAT composite score of at
least 1650 or an ACT composite score of at least 25.
·
Weighted GPA 3.5.
·
Students must have
demonstrated excellence in theater arts, musical theater, and/or dance.
·
Students are required to give a five-minute audition consisting of a monologue and/or performance prepared by the student and a five-minute interview.
Auditions will be held on March 12, 2012. Students will be called with the schedule of time and place.

The winner will be awarded
$5,000.00.
Civic Leadership Scholarship:
·
Students must have
demonstrated civic leadership in school and community activities, such
as Student Government Association, Chesapeake Regional Association of
Student Councils (CRASC), government internships, etc.
·
SAT composite score of at
least 1650 or an ACT composite score of at least 25.
·
Weighted GPA 3.5.
·
Must submit a written
recommendation from the principal.
·
Must submit a written
recommendation from an officer of an external organization in which the
student has been active.
·
The winner will be awarded
$5,000.00.
The following scholarships are
funded by the designated community organization and are administered by
Scholarships for Scholars, Inc. Please make note of any specific
requirement of the scholarship as outlined on the following pages.

The following honorary scholarships are awarded for demonstrated outstanding excellence.
All eligible scholarship applicants will be considered for these scholarships. (A
separate application is not required.)
· The
Edward J. Anderson Scholarship recipient will be awarded $7,000.00. The Edward J. Anderson Scholarship is awarded to the student judged to be the
most outstanding student of all applicants. Dr. Edward Anderson was Superintendent of the Anne Arundel County Public Schools from 1968-1984 and the founder of Scholarships for Scholars, Inc.

The Trustees Scholarship recipient will be awarded $6,000.00. The Trustees Scholarship is awarded to the student judged to have demonstrated multi-disciplinary excellence.
Scholarships for Scholars, Inc., in its discretion, reserves the right
not to award a scholarship in any category.
