MAY IS PHYSICAL FITNESS AND SPORTS MONTH

The month of May is nationally known as Physical Fitness and Sports Month (as declared by President Reagan in 1983). The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County recognizes the month of May as National Physical Fitness and Sports Month (read the resolution at www.aacps.org/aacps/boe/HR/fitness.pdf ). All AACPS employees and residents of Anne Arundel County are encouraged to participate in healthy activities, especially those scheduled during the month of May in recognition of its special designation.

HEALTHY NUMBERS

Where do you stand?

These are the recommended numbers:

Blood pressure             less than 120/80
Blood sugar                   less than 100 mg/dL
Cholesterol                    less than 200 mg/dL
Weight                            in proportion to your height
                                         (see BMI calculator on the right)

All adults should have these checked regularly!

Baltimore Washington Medical Center (BWMC, formerly North Arundel Hospital) offers many programs either free of charge or for a nominal fee.
