Parent Involvement Conference 10/25
Cosponsored by the Volunteers/School and Family Partnerships and Title I

The Office of Volunteers/School and Family Partnerships is sponsoring the fall Parent Involvement Conference on Wednesday, October 25, 2006.  The conference will be held from 9:00 a.m – 1:50 p.m. at the Carver Staff Development Center, 2671 Carver Road in Gambrills.

The theme of this fall’s conference is “Connecting The Dots – Parent Involvement and Student Achievement”.  Dr. Kevin Maxwell, Superintendent of Schools, will bring greetings.  The keynote address will be provided by Special Agent Alison Sutton, Defense Criminal Investigative Service, who will discuss Internet Safety. 

Following the keynote, participants will be able to choose 3 one-hour workshops to attend, from a selection of 12 different topics, including “I’m In Middle School Now! Stop Treating Me Like a Little Kid!”, “Being An Effective Advocate”, “Make The Most of the Parent/Teacher Conference”, “Managing Stress By Controlling Your Life”, “Words That Matter: Building Vocabulary at Home”, and “Math: Learn-It, Know-It, Show-It.”

Breakfast and lunch will be provided.  Registration is free and open to the public.  Space is limited, so register early by calling the Volunteer office at 410-222-5414, or email
