Information on Middle School & High School Scheduling
Anne Arundel County middle schools and high schools currently use a variety of class schedules ranging across combinations of four, six, and seven period days. It has been approved that for the 2003-04 school year and beyond, one standard middle school schedule and one standard high school schedule will be used in all Anne Arundel County secondary schools. The models, shown below, will allow for greater flexibility in individualizing student programs, will afford students the opportunity to take a wider variety of courses over a six-year period, and will allow students to earn additional credits in high school. Similar models are currently being successfully used in various schools across the nation. The schedules can be implemented without significant additional cost.
The following document was approved by the Board of Education at the December
18, 2002 Board meeting.
