Announces $72 Million in Early Reading First Grants
In January 2002, President Bush signed the No Child Left Behind Act
of 2001. One of the provisions in this new law permits Title 1 parents to:
- Request information regarding the professional qualifications of their
students' teacher(s) and instructional assistants. Parents can ask for
information about the major of the teacher and the field in which the
teacher is certified.
- Request information about the status of the teacher's state certification
and licensing measures for the grade level and subject areas in which
the teacher is teaching.
Parents can obtain information by submitting a request in writing to
Anne Arundel County Public Schools, Public Information Office,
2644 Riva Road, Annapolis, MD 21401.

Information
NOTICE TO PARENTS/GUARDIANS AND STUDENTS
The
federal No Child Left Behind Act requires high schools to
provide to military recruiters, upon request, access to names, addresses, and
phone numbers of high school students. The
law also requires high schools to release information to colleges or other
higher learning institutions upon request.
Board
Policy 902.13 was revised on June 5, 2002, to allow for these disclosures.
If you do not want Anne
Arundel County Public Schools to disclose this information without your prior
written consent, you must fill out this form (in
pdf format) and return it to your school.
If your child is over 18, he or she must sign the form. If your
child’s school of enrollment changes, please file a form with the new school
to be sure that it has your request on file.
