If the parent indicates that the student is to be included in standardized testing program, the school’s principal will be so notified. Currently, the Anne Arundel County Public Schools offer the MSA (Maryland Student Assessment) test in grade 3 through grade 8 and the PSAT test for grades 9, 10, and 11 and the high school AP (Advanced Placement Exams). If the student is to be included in the standardized testing program, the parent/s is requested to contact the school’s Testing Coordinator at least 3 weeks prior to the exam. The test results are sent to the parents when received in the Home School Office.

Parents are required to ‘update or verify’ the continuation of home schooling annually. Parents using a correspondence school or a registered nonpublic organization (Option 4b) will communicate this information to that supervising organization. Parents being supervised by Anne Arundel County Public Schools will communicate this information directly to the Home School Office during the end of year reviews.

Students being taught through parental instruction (home schooled) are not enrolled in the Anne Arundel County Public School. Students in a home school program will not receive a diploma from the Anne Arundel County Public Schools and may not participate in courses, extracurricular activities, the Centers for Applied Technology or interscholastic athletics within the Anne Arundel County Public School System.
