II.
Request for Documents:
Upon request, the Home School Office will furnish parents/guardians with copies of
COMAR 13A.10.01 and the
‘Notification’ form governing Home School programs.
III.
Notification to Home School:
Enrollment for home school will consist of a completed Home School
'Notification' form.

Applicants being home schooled under the provisions of the COMAR Regulations in paragraph 4b of the
‘Notification’ form must also complete the ‘Notification’ form.

The form should be submitted to the Home School Office , Anne Arundel County Public Schools, 2644 Riva Rd.,
Annapolis, MD 21401 or by fax (410)222-5637.

The form will be dated upon arrival, checked for completeness, and a signature of a designee from the
Home School Office or entered into the appropriate space indicating its’ receipt.
IV. Notification of Acceptance:
A letter will be initiated by the Home School Office to the applicant establishing receipt of the Home School
‘Notification’ form and recognizing that home schooling will occur.
The Home School Office will notify the principal or guidance office of the Anne Arundel County Public school
to which the child would attend to verify home schooling.
If the parent indicates that the student is to be included in standardized testing program, the school’s principal will be so notified. Currently, the Anne Arundel County Public Schools offer the MSA (Maryland
Student Assessment) test in grade 3 through grade 8 and the PSAT test for grades 9, 10, and 11 and the high school
AP (Advanced Placement Exams). If the student is to be included in the standardized testing
program, the parent/s is requested to contact the school’s Testing Coordinator at least 3 weeks prior to the
exam. The test results are sent to the parents when received in the Home School Office.
Parents are required to ‘update or verify’ the continuation of home schooling annually. Parents using a correspondence school or a registered nonpublic organization (Option 4b) will communicate this information to that supervising organization. Parents being supervised by Anne Arundel County Public Schools will communicate this information directly to the Home School Office during the end of year reviews.
Students being taught through parental instruction (home schooled) are not enrolled in the Anne Arundel County
Public School. Students in a home school program will not receive a diploma from the Anne Arundel County Public
Schools and may not participate in courses, extracurricular activities, the Centers for Applied Technology or
interscholastic athletics within the Anne Arundel County Public School System.
