AVID Volunteers
Volunteer Opportunities
AVID Tutors Wanted
AVID Tutorials occur during the
AVID elective class among small groups of 4-6 students each.
Students ask questions they have
brought from their regular classes; and in a collaborative
fashion, tutors and other students ask leading or guiding
questions to assist the students in finding their own
answers. Volunteers do not need to know the subject areas;
they just need to utilize questioning skills, commit to at
least one hour a week, and enjoy working with students.
Junior Achievement Volunteers Wanted
Junior Achievement Worldwide is the world’s largest organization
dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness,
entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on
programs.
JA’s
unique approach allows volunteers from the community to deliver our
curriculum while sharing their experiences with students. Volunteers
transform the key concepts of our lessons into a message meant to
inspire and empower students to believe in themselves, showing them they
can make a difference in the world.
Volunteers would need to commit to an initial two hour training session
to learn about the curriculum materials and philosophy of Junior
Achievement. There are seven to eight lessons within the curriculum
that volunteers would utilize within an AVID high school class during
the regular school day.
If
you would enjoy working with youth and teachers, and would like to
become a volunteer with Junior Achievement and the AVID program, please
