Individual Determination Program (AVID)
AVID
is an academic
program designed to provide support to students who are in the
“academic” middle. This elective is currently being offered to
students in grades 6 through 12, with some pilot elementary schools
offering it to 5th grade students. (read

Collaborative Decision Making (CDM)
In ensure that the needs of every student are met, today’s schools are using a collaborative process to identify student strengths and weaknesses, design and document progress on academic and behavioral interventions, and share responsibilities for all students. This change is required by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2000 and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 2004. Schools are becoming more proficient at using various forms of student data to appropriately differentiate instruction and to design instructional goals based on the Maryland Voluntary State Curriculum.

Children and
adolescents have many talents and gifts. The G/T/AP program open
doors for students, affording them opportunities to develop their
talents and gifts, and enrich their lives. Exploration occurs

The Smaller Learning
Communities (SLC) Grant is a grant from the U.S. Department of Education
to restructure five high schools into smaller units, called career
