FY2010 BUDGET ADOPTED BY BOARD IMPOSES FURLOUGHS ON AACPS EMPLOYEES
The Anne Arundel County Board of Education has approved a $936.2 million Fiscal Year 2010 operating budget and $131.6 million capital budget for Fiscal Year 2010, charting a course for the next school year that preserves jobs while recognizing the economic difficulties that exist in the county and state. The operating budget approved by the Board June 17 does not call for a reduction in force. However, it imposes furloughs on all employees except school bus drivers on a graduated scale and contains no salary increases for any employee. Included in the capital budget is funding to enclose open space classrooms and for construction projects at nine schools.
