High School Service Learning Opportunities
The Student Service-Learning Interactive Database
The Service-Learning Office is working on a database that will link students to service-learning opportunities all over the county! Students can volunteer at partner organizations to gain extra experience and service-learning hours.
The ultimate goal of our service learning program is to help students become an integral part of their community and help them understand and appreciate the role of service in a democratic society. Using the Service-Learning Interactive Database, students can volunteer with organizations outside of the classroom to improve their academic skills. While serving, students apply what they learn in school to real world issues; they then reflect on their experience to reinforce the link between their service and their learning. Through this database, our partners can post service-learning opportunities for our students and our students can search opportunities to apply for.
The Service-Learning Interactive Database will be available for use sometime in the next two years. We at the Service-Learning Office are excited about this new opportunity for community engagement and student growth!
The Service-Learning Office will be recruiting organizations during the 2012-2013 school year.
If you work in an organization that would be willing to invite service-learning students to volunteer at their site, please contact the Service-Learning Office at 410-224-8566.
