Welcome to the Magnet Programs page!

Magnet Programs are one of many initiatives in Anne Arundel County Public Schools to offer students additional choice and rigor in their education. For more information about Magnet Programs and what they can offer your student, click here.  For those students who applied late or who did not completed their PVA Auditions, late auditions were held on May 7, 2014 at Broadneck High School, at 4 PM.  Additional audition information can be found at

Attention, students who will be in 5th or 8th grade in Fall, 2014!  If you would like to learn about Magnet Programs and the application process for Fall, 2014, please join us at Old Mill High on September 22 or at Annapolis High on September 30 at 6 PM.  You will have the opportunity to learn about BMAH, CAT, IB, PVA, and STEM.

 Important Dates and Information 

Click here to start your Magnet Application! The deadline for an on-time Magnet application was December 3, 2013 at noon.

The deadline to submit an on-time CAT aplication was April 1, 2014.

The deadline to submit an on-time BMAH, IB, PVA, or STEM application was noon, 12/4/13. Late applications will be considered in late Spring. 

 Preparing for your Magnet Challenge Interview or Audition

 All interviews and auditions for on-time applicants have concluded.  An audition/interview session will be held in the Spring for late applicants.

It's time for the 2014 Magnet Lottery!

The 2014 Lottery Results are now posted on the Magnet Lottery Website for current 5th and 8th grade students! 


If you are a late applicant or not a 5th or 8th grade student, you were sent information on May 20 about your application.

Please be aware that if you are experiencing difficulty logging in to accept or decline a seat because of a password and you attempt to log in more than 3 times with an incorrect password, your account will be locked. In that case, please email Dr. Joe Wieczorek at and provide your student’s name, 6-digit perm number, current grade, and your decision to accept or decline each Magnet seat. He will respond to you in a timely fashion.

BioMedical Allied Health Program (BMAH)

For the student interested in exploring and engaging with real-world opportunities in the biomedical and allied health fields. Students can apply to the BMAH program in grade 8.


Centers of Applied Technology (CAT)

For the student interested in developing technical skills needed to be marketable in the competitive work place. Students can apply to this program in grades 9 and 10. 


International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP) (grades 6-8)

For the inquisitive student eager to think outside the box, explore, and problem-solve. Students can apply to this program in grade 5.  

International Baccalaureate MYP (9-10)/Diploma Programme (11-12) (IB MYP/DP)

For the student who aspires to become a visionary leader. Students can apply to this program in grades 8 and 10.Students interested in applying to the IB DP program in grade 10 should contact the IB Coordinator at their IB School for eligibility requirements. 


Performing & Visual Arts Middle School (PVA)

For the arts student interested in fostering their maximum potential both artistically and academically. Students can apply to this program in grade 5. 


Performing & Visual Arts High School (PVA)

For the serious artist interested in developing their full potential as they prepare for post-secondary academic and career success. Students can apply to this program in grade 8. 

Science Technology, Engineering, & Math Middle School Program (STEM)

For the students interested in exploring how science, technology, engineering, and math is present everywhere in the world around them. For the first time, students whose home middle school would be Arundel, Brooklyn Park, Chesapeake Bay, Corkran, George Fox, Lindale, MacArthur, Marley, Meade, Old Mill North, Old Mill South or Severna Park Middle School can apply to this program in grade 5.

Students who do not typically feed into these middle schools and who are interested in STEM will have opportunities in the future to apply to our STEM Middle School at Central Middle that will open in future years.


Science Technology, Engineering, & Math High School Program (STEM)

For the student interested in hands-on, real-world experience in the science, technology, engineering, and math disciplines Students can apply to this program in grade 8.
