APPROPRIATE ATTIRE - SCHOOLS WITH UNIFORMS - 2010-2011
 

Appropriate attire for students in schools

 

Students are to dress in clothes that promote a safe and respectful learning environment. Clothes that create a disruptive environment or cause a health or safety hazard are not appropriate and not acceptable at school. School personnel will enforce this dress code.


Headwear

• Only for health, safety, or religious reasons


Shoes

• No bare feet


Clothing

• Cannot show profanity, obscenity,
violence, or symbols of hate

• Cannot promote alcohol, tobacco, or drugs

• Cannot promote gang colors or gang-related signs

• Cannot show underwear

• Cannot show bare skin between upper chest and mid thigh


Examples of inappropriate dress:


– baseball caps – midriffs – pajama bottoms

– tank tops – tobacco or alcohol brand T-shirts
