Severn Elementary School has been a part of our community since 1932. Parents who are interested in assisting with various events or committees are encouraged to call the school at 410-551-6220.
The Missionof the PTA
To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community, and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children
To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children
To encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.
The Purposes of the PTA
To promote the welfare of the children and youth in home, school, community, and place of worship.
To raise the standards of home life.
To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth.
To bring into closer relation the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth.
To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education.
Accomplishments of Severn’s PTA
Providing funds for annual field trips for each grade level to help reduce cost to families
Providing funds for Weekly Readers for each student
Purchasing safety equipment and custodial supplies to ensure a safe, clean learning environment for our children
Ensuring the staff has the financial assistance needed to run programs such as MESA, Human Relations Committee & after school programs
Providing full support of the Climbing Wall in our gym…the ONLY one in an elementary school in the county!!
Sponsoring social events to enrich family life (such as the ice cream social, Fall Frolic, Holiday Hideaway, Spring Fling, Family BBQ, Family Fun Nights, Kid Bingo, etc.)
With your help, we can continue to work toward the goal of a quality education and nurturing environment for every child.
Severn Elementary PTA meets the second Tuesday of each month, usually from 7-8pm, in the MediaCenter.
