Procedures
for Students Riding in Cars
Parents who bring children to school in cars and/or who pick children up at the end of the school day are to follow these procedures to ensure the safety of all:
Parents driving children to school in the morning must drive to the back of the building and drop off students by the rear door. Students may only be let off between the light pole and the third tree. (see link to map below) NO STUDENTS ARE TO BE LET OFF IN THE STAFF PARKING LOT. The students then stay on the sidewalk in the back and enter the building through exit 12. In inclement weather, the students will enter through exit 12 and wait inside. Teachers will be on duty for supervision.
Walkers and any students riding in a car must stay in last period until 2:50 p.m. Parents picking up children after school must use the rear parking lot only. Car riders will be dismissed at 2:50 p.m. For safety, students are not permitted to walk across the lot. Cars are to stay in line and keep moving forward until there is a safe location to pick up the student. Cars may only load between the light pole and the third tree (see diagram). If a student is not picked up by 3:00, he/she will be directed to the office to wait.
Parents bringing children to school from appointments after 8:00 a.m. may still use the side parking lot and exit 17, the closest entrance to the office. The back door, exit 12, will be locked at 8:00 a.m. for security. Parents picking up children early for appointments before 2:00 p.m. may still use the side parking lot and exit 17, the closest entrance to the office.
These procedures were extremely effective in maintaining a safe outdoor environment for all of our students. We ask that all parents continue to follow these procedures.
