Principal’s Message Rocco Ferretti
It is with great pride that I welcome each of the new and returning Shipley's Choice Elementary School parents to the 2009-2010 school year. Our theme for this year will be "Rockin’ Into the Future – Every Student is a Star." In addition to building great academic skills, we want to reinforce great teamwork and great manners with our students. I am counting on our great parent involvement to continue as we continue to raise the academic expectations of all students. We also want to build on our business partnerships and community contacts as we provide exciting learning opportunities for our students. Our teamwork will keep us as the most successful elementary school in Maryland.
During the 2009-2010 school year, our School Improvement Plan will guide our educational efforts. This plan highlights the goals for the new school year. These goals focus on accelerating student achievement in the areas of Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Technology.
Your continuous support is always needed to encourage your children to complete assignments on time, to the very best of their ability, and to always be a good role model for others. Building a positive school climate where children have positive "can do" attitudes is another attribute parents always bring to our school. Your creative ideas and volunteer hours at school, as well as your membership in the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), provide resources and rich experiences for our youngsters.
Should you have any questions and or concerns about a classroom policy or specific incident, please contact your child's teacher and I assure you all efforts will be made to resolve any matters. If you still have concerns or feel you need further resolution to any situations, please feel free to contact me so a conference can be made at a mutually convenient time.
I believe that the children of Shipley's Choice Elementary School are the most talented and kindest children that I have ever worked with. I hope that your child has a year that makes learning exciting, challenging and fun. I look forward to your continued outstanding support and I extend my best wishes to each family as we begin a new learning adventure. I just know that by working together we are going to have a GREAT school year.
