Ridgeway is highly recognized for its family environment, active PTA involvement and compassion to include our special needs children in everything we do.
This year, we will continue to purchase additional technology that will assist teachers in enhancing lessons with worldwide connections and energize student learning beyond curriculum. The school is working with the PTA, Chick-fil-A, and Target to raise funds.
The school received the distinction of becoming a “Green School” in June 2010. The entire community of students, parents, teachers and neighbors were dedicated to this endeavor. Many of the classrooms work with teachers with the programs Chesapeake Connections and Arlington Echo to raise grasses and terrapins. I am extremely proud of everyone in their quest to make this possible within two years.
Two grade levels: first and second, have taken overnight trips to
Arlington Echo in the past. Mrs. Perrella, Talent Development teacher, is looking forward to her 24 Game Club continuing this year, enriching students in math and seeing our Math MSA scores increase.
Finally, I look forward to seeing our new state of the art Kindergarten addition completed, having more parental involvement through volunteering, chaperoning, and in attending our many PTA functions. Education is a partnership for all of us to join together in making our children succeed.
