The current PTA board is excited to announce that we have four parents who have stepped up to run for Executive Board positions for next year! Initially, we had three positions available (President, Vice-President, and Treasurer), but since we had four interested parents, we will be able to have two vice-presidents next year! The candidates for office are:
Dayna Ostler – President
Wanda Kendig – 1st Vice-President
Kristin Holloway – 2nd Vice-President
Barb Mason – Treasurer
Cheryl Scott will remain as Secretary. Be sure to attend the PTA general membership meeting on Tuesday, May14th at 6:00 in the main office conference room. We will elect our new PTA officers at that time. Thank you to these parents who are willing to lead our PTA!
We will be celebrating Staff Appreciation Week at OMMS from May 6th-10th. This is the perfect opportunity for your child and you to show the teachers and other staff members how much you appreciate all their hard work and dedication. You or your child may want to write a note to teachers or send in little treats; any gesture of gratitude is most welcomed by the staff members!
The highlight of this week is the annual Staff Appreciation Luncheon hosted by the PTA on Tuesday, May 7th. The PTA provides the entrée, and many of you have already offered to send in side dishes, desserts, and drinks. However, according to Renee Hoover, our volunteer coordinator, we are still in need of heavy side dishes (ex. baked beans, mac and cheese) and salads (but not green salad, potato or pasta salads, as we have enough of those).
Please contact me at mrhubscher@verizon.net if you would like to donate food and/or if you would like to help with set up or clean up. Items can be dropped off in the main office before 11:00 that day (or any day before then for items that don’t need refrigeration). You can also contact Carole Miller at clmiller0904@gmail.com if you would like to drop off your donation at her home. Thank you for your participation! The staff really looks forward to this luncheon every year and they are so appreciative of our efforts.
Our last Dining Out Event of the year will be on Tuesday, May 14th at the Greene Turtle in the Waugh Chapel Towne Center. Come by any time from 11:00 a.m. until closing, present a flyer, and 20% of your food and beverage tab will go to OMMS. Gather your family and friends and see you at the Greene Turtle! Don’t forget your flyer! (See below)
Speaking of restaurants, special recognition goes out to Nando’s Peri-Peri at Waugh Chapel and Plaza Garibaldi in Glen Burnie for their generous donations of food for the OMMS International Night on April 18th. Please show your appreciation for their support of our school by patronizing these restaurants!
Sincerely,
Marirose Hubscher
PTA President
