Media
Center Procedures
Passes
are not needed before or after school, however, during the

a pass noted in their student planner, from a teacher or staff
member. Students may not come from a class that has a substitute
teacher. Students are expected to come directly to Media unless
the pass states otherwise. They will remain in the Media Center
unless the teacher has noted differently.

Media
Center Philosophy
The Northeast
High School Media Program supports the educational goals of
Northeast High School, the Anne Arundel County Public School
System, and the Maryland Department of Education. The media
staff, led by the media specialist, organizes and operates a
media program which provides services to students, teachers,
administrators, and staff. The media program provides an organized
collection of diverse resources, instruction in the use of these
resources, space and tools to produce instructional materials,
as well as access to computer technology and the Internet, in
an environment conducive to learning. The program takes into
consideration individual differences through the understanding
of multicultural diversity and multiple intelligences. The program
makes it possible for all students to learn to use information
skills effectively to solve problems. In addition, students
may explore literature and reading for personal growth. Also,
the program promotes the concepts of open access to information,
intellectual freedom, and life long learning.
Fines
There are
no daily fines for overdue materials. Students receive an overdue
notice in their 1st period class. If the item is not returned,
their name will appear on the debt list and library priveleges
will be suspended. Missing items may be paid for and if the
item is later found, the money will be refunded.
