Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
The national Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a self-governing unit that plans its programs and activities to meet the needs of children and youth in the community. Each PTA has its own characteristics, but its underlying purpose of promoting the welfare of children and youth unites all PTAs and gives continuity and nationwide significance to their work.
Purposes of the PTA:
- To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, community, and place of worship.
- To raise the standards of home life.
- To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth.
- To bring into closer relation the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth.
- To develop between educators and the general public such unified efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social and spiritual education.
Meade Heights Elementary Parent Teacher Association
The PTA is dedicated to making this the best year ever! Last year we made great strides improving communication with families and expect to further improve this year. First, we will be using email on a more regular basis to invite your input, send home reminders, and to make request. We hope you recognize that while emails are sent to everyone, we do not expect everyone to fulfill every request. Email is an efficient use of time, however, if information is extremely important or requires you to complete and return a portion of the flier; you may receive both a hard and digital copies. Secondly, the PTA elected officers have provided contact information below. Please feel free to email us personally with any questions, concerns, or ideas.
I hope you join us this year in reaching our goals. Our vision for PTA is to have every child represented by a family member. Parent involvement is a key indicator of student success and with your membership; you will have a voice and vote. PTA will work with the school to develop a reading incentive program; promote a positive school culture with the "A okay" code, enrichment assemblies and various incentive programs; and support school staff and classrooms throughout the year. This year we’re hoping to bring guest to work with each grade.
